Cisco’s ACI Intent Based Networking Solution Coming To AWS Cloud Networking giant Cisco Systems will bring its Application Centric Infrastructure solution (ACI), to public cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), in a major extension program called ACI Anywhere. After the software-defined networking movement (SDN), which threatened Cisco’s hardware-based and proprietary dominance of the networking industry, ACI was introduced by the company. It renamed it “intent-based network” after that. ACI Anywhere allows ACI to be used on AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud platforms. The company stated that it delivers operational simplicity, application agility, and protection in the data centre — all delivered in an open approach that integrates seamlessly with all hypervisors or container frameworks on which applications can be deployed. ACI Anywhere extends ACI to any workload in any location and any cloud with ACI Anywhere. Virtual ACI supports remote edge locations and bare metal clouds. Cisco now has Cloud ACI capabilities that allow for automation, management and security to AWS, Microsoft Azure, and their Infrastructure as a Service environments. Cisco’s “ACI Anywhere” Software-Defined Networking Reaches AWS Cloud Networking kingpin Cisco Systems has announced a new solution that extends Cisco’s software-defined networking technology (SDN) from on-premises datacenters into the Amazon Web Services (AWS). The solution, called Cisco Cloud ACI For AWS, is part of the ACI Anywhere initiative Cisco Systems announced in January. It aims to expand the reach of its SDN based Application Centric Infrastructure to public clouds such as AWS or Microsoft Azure. Cisco stated that its ACI Anywhere network initiative offered flexible deployment options and the ability to deploy apps based upon business requirements rather than technology limitations. In announcing this week, Cisco said that the new offering expands on that functionality. It “automates end-to-end connectivity management and enforces consistent network security policies for applications running on-prem data centres and AWS public clouds regions.” According to the AWS Marketplace entry, Cisco Cloud ACI is built on the Cisco Cloud Application Policy Infrastructure Controller. This controller runs natively in AWS public clouds to provide automated connectivity and policy translation. It also provides better visibility into workloads in the cloud. Amazon QuickSight BI Service gets Anomaly Detection. After previously infusing its Amazon QuickSight business Intelligence (BI) service (with machine learning functionality), Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS), has boosted it again with new features, including anomaly detection. Amazon QuickSight, a fully managed BI cloud service, is known for its pay-per-session pricing model. This is reportedly the first of its kind in the industry. AWS introduced several enhancements to the service last week, including anomaly detection. AWS stated that QuickSight Anomaly detection allows you to uncover hidden insights within your data by continuously analysing billions of data points. With the current launch, subscribers can subscribe to receive email alerts when an anomaly occurs in business metrics. These alerts will also highlight the factors that lead to these anomalies. This allows you to immediately address the business metrics that require attention. These alerts can be configured based on the significance of the anomaly or its directionality. Other improvements include:

Support for Favorites allows users to bookmark dashboards and analyzes.
