How to Apply Explore Its To Your Calculus Course
Explore Its for Calculus is a condensed presentation of major topics that has been broken down into four tabs to suit a variety of class needs. These tabs include:
Concept: A picture (real life) side-by-side alongside a graph (math) to give a quick visual illustration of what students will be learning.
Example Video: Self-guided instruction, visualization of a topic with narration. How to Use It: Break up your lecture with students to improve understanding or assign it alongside a textbook reading.
How to Use It: Instructors may use this instead of hand-drawn images in their lectures. They can also assign homework problems to encourage students interaction with the topic.
How to Use It: This tab can be used as an “icebreaker” for a class lecture, or as test material to ensure that students are familiar with the concept and its real-world application.
How to Assign and Explore Its
Explore Its is currently available for Calculus and Precalculus titles with Stewart, Larson, and other titles.
To add them to an assignment
Navigate to the question browser.
Choose a chapter or section from the book.
Select ‘MicroView’ from the Display Options, and then click the ‘Update Listing’ button. This will allow to view all questions in this section.
Use ‘CTRL+F to search for ‘.EI,’ or find questions labeled ‘.EI. Highlight Explore It questions quickly.
Select an Explore It question to add to your assignment.
