There are five main process groups in project management. The second group is the project planning process. After the project has been initiated, the project planning process is completed. This is the next step. A well-planned project will have a greater chance of success. This stage, known as the “project planning phase”, is critical for the entire project lifecycle. Let’s now look at the Planning Process Group Activities.

Planning Process Group Activities: What are the Activities in Project Planning Process Group
The group activities of project planning help to create project planning documents. More information about project management can be found in the CAPM training.
Let’s now look at the project planning group activity steps one by one.
Planning Process Group Activities #1 – Determine how you will plan
The project planning group activities are how you will approach planning. These activities help you to plan your project properly.
Planning Process Group Activities #2 – Finalize requirements
All project requirements must be met, including cost, schedule, scope, quality, and budget. Before you begin planning, it is important to finalize all project requirements. The project requirements will guide the overall project plan. You will need to re-plan if these requirements change.
Project management processes can be documented and managed with the help of project management templates. To get an idea of the process, you can view free samples of project management templates.
Planning Process Group Activities #3 – Create a project scope statement
The project scope statement defines the scope of the project. The project scope statement also outlines the main deliverables and outputs.
Step 4: Decide what to buy
A project manager must plan and determine the tools, equipments, or other resources that will be needed to complete the project. If there is a construction project, for example, steel, wood, tools, etc., must be purchased. You must purchase. Some vehicles may be required, and they could be leased rather than purchased. This group must plan for all these resources.
Step #5: Identify the team
The project manager should establish the project resources that will work throughout the project during the planning phase. How many software engineers will be involved in the IT project? How many test engineers are required? All of these are planned and determined during planning.
Step #6 in the Project Planning Process: Create a Work Breakdown Structure & Work Breakdown Strategy
WBS is shorthand for work breakdown structure. It is the hierarchy of project deliverables within a project. A payment module package can include the completion of a login page and a credit card payment page. A website can be made complete by using several work packages. These hierarchies are the WBS. WBS dictionary provides detailed information about an item in WBS.
Step #7 in the Project Planning Process: Create an activity list
During project planning, the activities required to complete a project are identified. These activities should be as small as possible in order to assign a project member. This will allow for better coordination and management of the project.
