How can you keep track of all the statements of work in your organization? Maybe you have a One Note list. Maybe you have a One Note list. It was difficult to keep track which statements of work were in what order and where they were located.
We designed a template to create a statement of work tracker.
This is not a template to be used for a statement or work. It is used to track multiple statements’ status.
What is a SOW tracker?
An SOW tracker tracks the source and dates of each statement. It also tracks responsibilities.
Why would I use an SOW tracker instead of my own?
As a project manager, it is essential to keep track of your statements of work, especially if you manage multiple projects simultaneously. You can easily have several open SOWs if you manage multiple projects with a few external suppliers.
Your company can use the SOW tracker internally to manage work and statements. This applies whether you’re using it for project management documentation or in other departments.
It is possible to track, for instance, which SOWs were created and completed, as well the resources required to complete each piece of work.
It can be used for tracking SOWs received by service providers and consultants. This template is more useful to the PMO and the entire department.
How can you make the SOW tracker work for your benefit?
Each SOW should be added the tracker. It can be used to store SOWs and as a master reference. Although all team members have access to the tracker, I recommend that only a few people have it to update it. This will help you with version control issues.
What’s in the SOW Tracker?
The SOW tracker includes the following sections:
Reference number (this can be linked back to the Master Service Agreement).
Name of the project
Business location
Company/role
Whether the SOW will be used for internal or externe work
Contact information and contact details for the internal manager
Start and End dates
Billing rates
Major deadlines.
The template can be modified in any way you like. You can add additional columns or tabs to the template. Although I haven’t included a column for the SOW title, it might be useful to have a shorter SOW name. Because the SOWs that drive them are often long-named, we use a number system.
I wouldn’t include too much detail if you want to expand on the scope of the SOW. The template is not meant to be a detailed copy or the statement of works. It is intended to be a high-level tracker that assists with SOW management.
How do I access the template
The free SOW template is available in Excel in our project management resource collection.
